WELCOME TO THE HALO HACKATHON POWERED BY SPORTLOGIQ & TEAMWORKS

As a proud sponsor of the inaugural Hockey Analytics League Operations (HALO) meetings in Colorado, Sportlogiq and Teamworks are excited to present the first ever HALO hackathon, engaging the hockey analytics community to rethink hockey performance, tactics, and decision making. 

This crowd-sourced competition is open to students, professionals, and enthusiasts, empowering participants to explore creative, data-driven approaches that advance how hockey is understood, coached, and played at the highest levels.

Finalists for this event will have the opportunity to present their research to an audience of hockey analytics professionals at the Hockey Analytics League Operations (HALO) meetings in Colorado on March 31st.

WANT TO GET INVOLVED?

Whether you are a student, aspiring hockey analytics professional, or simply an enthusiast, we encourage all to participate! 

Fill out our registration form and you will be contacted with further details and provided with the necessary datasets. 

You may participate as an individual or in a team of 2 participants.

Evaluation criteria includes:

  • Actionable insights for coaching or front-office decision-making
  • Creativity and originality
  • Effective use of data
  • Clarity, rigor, and storytelling
  • Technical execution and practical relevance

WHY REGISTER?

  • Finalists will get opportunity to showcase their work on a premier stage live at the HALO Conference
  • Hotel accommodations and airfare reimbursement of up to $500 USD provided for one finalist representative per team
  • Get in front of decision-makers with submissions judged by industry leaders and NHL staff
  • Gain exposure across professional hockey, including the NHL and other major leagues
  • Additional prize for Hackathon winner, announced at HALO Conference

TIMELINE & IMPORTANT DATES

  • January 7th- Registration open
  • Week of January 26th  - Competition datasets available 
  • February 6th - Registration closed   
  • February 19th - Deadline to submit projects  
  • February 27th - Finalists selected 
  • March 31st - Finalists present at inaugural HALO Conference in Colorado
